Woods Comfort Systems — Trusted HVAC & Plumbing Experts Serving Austin, San Marcos, New Braunfels & Central Texas

Some companies talk about their values. The Woods family has been living them for nearly 70 years. What started with C.A. Woods Jr. — a Bryant Air Conditioning engineer who founded C. Woods Company in Tyler, Texas in 1956 — has grown into one of Central Texas’s most trusted names in HVAC and plumbing service. Three generations. Decades of experience. The same commitment to honesty and quality on every single call.

Why Central Texas Homeowners Trust Woods Comfort Systems

The Woods Family Legacy

Founded on Experience. Built on Trust. Carried Forward by Family.

The story of Woods Comfort Systems doesn’t start with a business plan or a marketing strategy. It starts with a man who understood air conditioning from the inside out — C.A. Woods Jr., an engineer with Bryant Air Conditioning in Tyler, Texas, who founded C. Woods Company in 1956. From the very beginning, the Woods name meant something: technical expertise, honest work, and a commitment to keeping Texas families comfortable.

In 1978, his son, C.A. “Carey” Woods III, returned home after serving in the United States Navy. Rather than stepping directly into his father’s business, Carey charted his own course — purchasing J.P. Morrow Company, a full-service heating and air conditioning company in Alice, Texas. For 20 years, Carey built his own reputation in South Texas: the same values, the same work ethic, a different market.

When it was time to sell the Alice business and return to Tyler, Carey came back to what he knew best — taking over C. Woods Company from his retiring father and continuing a tradition that had already spanned more than four decades.

In April of 2008, Carey sold the Tyler operation to his employees, with plans to retire to Central Texas. But as anyone who’s spent a lifetime in this industry knows: “with freon in his veins, retirement was not to be.”

Carey Woods opened Woods Comfort Systems in Central Texas — and just like that, the region had a name it could trust. Not a franchise. Not a chain. A family.

In October of 2010, Christopher Alan Woods — a Texas State University alumnus who grew up watching his father and grandfather build this legacy — returned to the San Marcos area and took over the company from his retiring father, Carey. The tradition continues.
